From the Post Typography exhibition OSAYCANYOUSEE, prints and objects on the bicentennial of the War of 1812.
The War of 1812 helped to establish “Manifest Destiny” and the ever-expanding frontier in American myth. The defeat of the British preceded America‘s forced annexation of native lands in areas that include present day Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan. This expansionist ideology continued globally into the 21st century. American Expansionism and the other editioned prints and objects in OSAYCANYOUSEE explore the complex and violent histories behind America’s national mythologies.
